1. What Data We Use

Tandem is designed to minimize the amount of personal data we collect. The only data we require is:

  • Email and Password: Used for account creation and authentication. This data is stored securely on our servers and used solely for managing your account.

  • Messages: Your messages are end-to-end encrypted. We do not have access to their content, and they are only readable by you and the recipient.

We do not access your contacts, call logs, or location data.

2. Additional Technical Information

To ensure Tandem runs smoothly and efficiently, we may collect some technical information about your device, including:

  • Device Information: The model of your phone, operating system version, and performance metrics are used for improving the app's reliability.

We don’t track your location or other unnecessary data.

3. Who Your Data Is Shared With

We do not share your personal data with third-party companies, governments, or advertisers. All your data, including email and password, remains secure with us and is not shared unless required by law under strictly regulated circumstances.

4. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored securely on servers located within the European Union (specifically Finland, Germany, and the Czech Republic), in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We use industry-standard security measures to ensure the confidentiality of your data.

5. Deleting Your Data

You can delete your Tandem account at any time from within the app. Once your account is deleted, your email, password, and all associated data are permanently erased from our servers.

6. Spam Prevention and Contact Control

To prevent spam and abuse, Tandem requires an external SMS message to initiate a contact between users. Connections can only be initiated from the app on the BlindShell phone, and no communication occurs between users without confirmation.

This system ensures that only verified and consenting users can connect with each other.

7. Security of Your Data

We take robust security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access. End-to-end encryption ensures that only you and your chat partner can read the messages, and even we cannot decrypt them. We also employ advanced security protocols to protect our servers and user data.

8. Payments and Financial Information

Tandem is free to use, and we do not process payments or handle financial information. There are no in-app purchases or payment-related data collection.

9. Updates to This Policy

From time to time, we may make updates to this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be communicated through the app, and your continued use of Tandem signifies your acceptance of the updated policy.
